American Decorative Art Collection
The collection features unique works of art in a wide variety of media including clay, metal, glass and fiber. The collection was established in the 1970's through the generous contributions of Mrs. Helen Sulentic. Since that time numerous other individuals have made contributions. Through these gifts, an impressive collection of works by regional artists as well as works by artists of national and international importance has been built. The works in this collection are distinguished by their use of materials traditionally used in the creation of functional objects. In the hand of fine artists, however, that which has its root in function becomes first and foremost aesthetic in nature, and rich in tactile and visual qualities.
